Ask more questions
You will be a better designer by doing this one thing.
There is no shortcut to good learning design. Experience helps you to trust your instincts, but you cannot escape the need to ask searching questions and think deeply about every problem you work on.
The solution always lies in more questions - “why?” - the deeper you go, the closer you get to the problem that needs solving.
More questions asked to different people, stakeholders and audience, will give you different perspectives.
Taking time to consider these against your experience, expectations & preconceptions is where the magic happens.
A clear need, viewed from multiple angles is where you will find measurable outcomes that you can use to help you create a viable solution, one that solves the real problem.
Try it: three hours of just asking questions.
Sleep on it, read through some of your notes & then start work on your solution.
